I took a little stroll after the Christmas festivities. The lack of snow is rather disappointing.
More pictures of the new big bin. Note all of the stairs...
Sara is getting old (13 years) and some times has a hard time getting up off of the living room floor, but when I went outside with my camera bag she started jumping around. She was excited to go on one of our walks...
I hadn't been down to the pond in a long time...
The views are still mostly the same (a really good thing)...
The new elevator definitely stands out...
As does the cellphone tower that finally brought service to the area a little over a year ago...
This is a view from the top of the bin stairs. I think it is around 40 feet up and not the most comfortable place I've ever been. The stairs just kind of hang off of the side of the bin and were making all kinds of creaking noises...
I haven't looked down at the barn roof since a helicopter ride when I was a kid...
I imagine over their lifetimes these louvers have had thousands of bird feet on them. Birds fly in and out of the barn through them all day long...
From up here the clouds don't seem so far away (just kidding)...
I've never had such a good look at the weather vane on top of the barn before...
Going up the stairs was really just prelude for going up the ladder of the grain elevator which is over 80 feet high. My dad took some great pictures from up there just after they finished construction, but I may wait until spring. It might take that long for me to build up the nerve (or I'll just do it anyway).
